It is my great pleasure to welcome you to D. Y. Patil University located in the holy city of Kolhapur worshiped by the Goddess Mahalaxmi. It enjoys its moderate weather throughout the year which will make your stay conformable suiting to your study for achieving the academic heights globally. This university has emerged out of the centre of excellence in medicine consisting of a reputed 20 years old Medical College and excellent Hospital & Research Centre. In the span of first two years of the University, it has started D. Y. Patil College of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy. The establishment of Dental College, Engineering & Technology College and University Department of Technology are in advancement.

The ambience of our University is students centric. The University has started many innovative schemes both for UG and PG students. Specifically, "University Moral Guidance Scheme (UMGS)" for UG students has been introduced from this academic year which is unique of its nature. In this scheme, University has allotted a certain number of students to each teacher and encouraged them to interact with each other on every Saturday to discuss academic progress as well as social matter. For PG students, the University is organizing "Campaign On University Research & Training (COURT)" on 18th February of every year, in which all PG students are expected to make the presentation of their research work. The University instituted the prizes for best performance and excellence in Research. In addition, the University is encouraging the students to take part in research project with the funding from Central Government Agencies. With dedicated efforts of our faculty, many more research projects have been supported by national funding agencies. The organization of National & International Conferences has highlighted the name of our University globally.

Our vision projects this University as a unique centre of excellence in higher education and endeavors to meet the social, medical and technical needs of the modern society. I am sure this will ultimately lead to the creation of a knowledge based society which will gear to meet the demands of the twenty-first century.
