“We have established a fair presence in almost every field of professional education. Out thrust now remains on research.” - Vishwajit Kadam, Secretary, Bharati Vidyapeeth.

Like his politician father Patangrao Kadam, who is also founder chancellor of the Bharati Vidyapeeth, Vishwajit performs multiple roles. He juggles the affairs at the 180-odd institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth, heading a cooperative bank and driving poll campaigns with easy.

"I don't see foreign institutions as a threat. They will keep us on our toes," said Vishwajit. In fact he sounds more focused on the Vidyapeeth's move to set up campus abroad, the first one coming up at Dubai.

"We have established a fair presence in almost every field of professional education. Out thrust now remains on research," he said. Encouraging the younger generation to go for research is what Vishwajit is looking at. He is also bent on promoting facilities that enable inter-disciplinary research in areas like bio-medicine.

With a wide presence in western Maharashtra, the Vidyapeeth's future growth will come in steps and integrating newer technologies for teaching and learning will be the priorities, he said.
